Abstract
Background: To investigate the difference between non-DM and DM groups according to season with infrared camera.

Methods: One thousand and two hundred eighteen subjects were chosen who lived in Gyeonggi Province for 3 years and were devied to 102 DM and 1,116 non-DM groups. The thermal images of the plantar surface of foots were captured after 10-minute rest using Infrared camera (ThermaCAMTM PM695¢ç, Flir Co., Sweden). The images were analysed with ThermaCAM researcher program.

Results: There were statistical differences in plantar temperature between summer and winter. No statistical differences in winter hind-foot. The reason is supposed to be anatomical position of posterior tibial artery and effect of autonomic nervous system. The lowest point of palmar temperature is fore-foot, next to hind-foot, mid-foot.

Conclusion: Infrared thermography will be the tool for early detection of DM foot in non symptomatic DM groups.
